Meet the Höflers

At Höfler Fernblick, we’re now the third generation to run our family-owned guesthouse – and since the 2025 renovation, we’ve been doing it exactly the way we always wanted: personal, relaxed and close to our guests.

As a small guesthouse in Scena near Merano, we bring together everything that matters to us: genuine hospitality, great food and the mountains right on our doorstep.

What makes us special? Us.

Helmuth

HELMUTH
Senior host. Boss. And, according to him, part-time waiter. He took over the guesthouse from his parents and continued running it together with Brigitte. In the morning, you’ll find him at breakfast; in the evening, he’s serving dinner – and in between, he’s usually telling jokes that are sometimes better than they are funny.

When he’s not around the house, he’s probably somewhere between sky and valley, paragliding. Or out on his bike. Or simply heading off into the mountains.

BRIGITTE
Senior host. And the heart behind everything that looks beautiful. She takes care of breakfast, helps out in the kitchen in the evening – and somewhere in between, she’s decorating. A lot.

Walk through the house and you’ll quickly notice: everything has its place. Old treasures, memories and little pieces of family history. And yes – the porcelain dolls too. We younger ones might not necessarily have chosen them ourselves… but somehow, they belong here. And to be fair: in the newly renovated house, they look better than ever.

And then there are her favourite guests of all: the grandchildren. When they’re around, things get just a little (!) livelier.

STEPHAN
The one who grew up here – and decided to stay. He went to hotel management school, is a certified bike guide and hiking guide, and is usually right where the action is. Sometimes behind the bar, sometimes out in the mountains, sometimes somewhere between guests and everyday life.

He knows the area inside out and loves sharing it – preferably out on the trails, not just pointing at a map.

In his free time: cycling, hiking, football (goalkeeper – by choice), and good evenings with great food, wine and family.

RITA
The one pulling the strings behind the scenes – and standing at the stove out front. She went to hotel management school, trained as a chef, runs the office and cooks dinner in our in-house restaurant from Monday to Friday. For house guests only. Because that’s simply how we like it best.

She’s also on the board of the local tourism association – because standing still really isn’t her thing.

And yes: she and Stephan are still not married. We know. We get asked a lot. 😄

SOPHIE
Daughter. Future host – with opinions of her own. She helps out with service, experiments with recipes in the kitchen and is happiest when she’s out and about.

Handball, mini golf next door – as long as she’s moving, she’s happy.

PAUL
The little brother. And a bit of a rascal. He plays football, practises the accordion and makes his tip rounds with a hula hoop. Surprisingly effective.

He’s into cycling too. And getting up to mischief, of course.
